CARES Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act has introduced new opportunities for charitable contributions to nonprofit institutions. CARES Act allows donors who itemize deductions to deduct 100% of cash charitable gifts in 2020 (up to the full amount of your 2020 adjusted gross income). For individuals who take the standard deduction (rather than itemizing), the bill makes a new deduction available, as well; up to $300 in annual charitable contributions (cash or stock) may be directly subtracted from your gross income.
Online, Cash Or Check Gifts
Families may donate to our annual fund online using a credit card or pledge a payment for a later date by contacting our Development Office.
Checks should be made payable to Canterbury School of Florida and should be mailed to:

Cash should be brought directly to the Development Office (address above).
Major Gifts
Capital campaigns and major gifts provide funding for expansion or renovation of facilities and programs. The athletic complex, fine arts facility and Upper School building exist through the generosity of former families and friends. Current families have made leadership gifts to establish technology and Marine Studies programs. In each of these cases, individuals or families share a vision to transform the school while fulfilling our mission. None of these projects could have been funded through the daily operating budget. Tax-deductible gifts are usually paid in multi-year pledges, and naming opportunities are also possible with major gifts. To learn more, contact our Development Office.
Matching Gifts
You can multiply your gift to Canterbury School of Florida if your employer has a matching gift program. Thousands of companies have programs that will double or even triple individual tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Check with your personnel office to find out about your company's matching gift program.
Gifts Of Stock
Gifts of stock have two main financial benefits: a charitable deduction for the present fair market value and no capital gains tax on the appreciation. Please contact the Development Office at 727.521.5904 for transfer information.
Our fiscal year is July 1- June 30. Pledges and payments must be received by June 30 for credit in the current fiscal year and acknowledgement in Canterbury's Annual Report.
Bequests: The Heritage Society
Before creating your estate plan and before you sell your business, property or other appreciated assets, take time to learn about your charitable options. Individuals who include Canterbury in their estate planning make a commitment to the school’s mission and future generations. There is special recognition for these benefactors as members of our Heritage Society.
Donors should contact their financial advisors and notify the Development Office so that Canterbury may appropriately recognize this generosity.

Endowment & Directed Funds
The Canterbury Foundation was created to build an endowment for the long-term benefit of the school. Once the Foundation's principal has grown to an appropriate level, interest will be used for future growth and to sustain and expand programs. Academic and co-curricular programs, faculty compensation, financial aid and facility maintenance will all benefit from gifts to the Foundation.
Donations given in memory or in honor of individuals have a lasting impact on our school. These contributions honor the significance of Canterbury School either to the individual in whose name the gift is made or to the donor making the gift. Such gifts are placed in the Canterbury Foundation.
Alumni Fund
The Alumni Fund was created through the leadership of the Class of 2005. The purpose is to ensure that every student can enjoy the full range of Canterbury activities. Awards are made to upper school students on the basis of need and may cover class trips, athletic expenses or associated fees for any other co-curricular activity.Martha P. Little Fund
This fund was established in memory of Canterbury's beloved librarian, who served the school for nearly three decades. The purpose of the Martha Little Fund is to make a Canterbury education available to lower school students with demonstrated financial need.George Murphy Athletic Gift Fund

The purpose of this fund is to support athletes attending Canterbury who need assistance in purchasing necessary equipment/uniforms.To make donation to the Canterbury Foundation, contact the Development Office.
