COVID-19 Protocols for the 2021-2022 School Year
The Executive Council and Safety and Security Committee have been meeting frequently to discuss COVID-19 protocols for the 2021-2022 school year. Our number one priority is always to do our best to protect our community. We need to create a safe environment for all our children, especially those students in grades PK - 6 who do not have the opportunity to be vaccinated.
With that said, at this time we have decided to temporarily require masks for all members of our school community (faculty and staff, students, and parents), vendors, volunteers, and visitors while inside all school facilities during the school day. Masks will be required regardless of vaccination status.
Those with a documented medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask can request an exemption to be approved by Ms. Cieutat, Mrs. Hehn, and Mr. Hall.
The Safety and Security Committee will meet again the first week of September to review updated COVID-19 data before deciding whether to extend this requirement. It is our hope that if everyone does their part to keep our community safe and the number of cases are decreasing, we will be able to make adjustments to these protocols.
Our strength has always been as a community, and we will continue to support each other as we weather this pandemic together.
Coronavirus Updates
Updated COVID-19 Protocols: August 6, 2021
Here is an updated summary of our COVID-19 Protocols, which can also be found in our Hough and Knowlton Family Handbooks. These are subject to change during the school year:
-
Masks will be required temporarily for all members of our school community (faculty and staff, students, and parents), vendors, volunteers, and visitors while inside all school facilities during the school day.
-
Masks will be required regardless of vaccination status.
- Those with a documented medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask can request an exemption to be approved by Ms. Cieutat, Mrs. Hehn, and Mr. Hall.
- We are committed to on campus learning in 2021-2022 and will not be offering a remote learning option for students.
- If a student becomes ill with COVID-19, that student will be given assignments and support from teachers just as any student who has an extended illness.
- If an entire grade is quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure, then teachers will arrange remote instruction for the entire class.
- We will continue to follow the Florida Department of Health and OSHA guidelines regarding contact tracing and quarantine if there is a COVID-19 exposure on campus.
- Per these guidelines, those who have been vaccinated must show proof of vaccination to remain on campus during a quarantine situation.
- We will no longer require temperature checks or the daily COVID-19 attestation form.
- Knowlton Campus will be at 100% capacity for our regular school day and special events.
- Hough Campus will continue to offer grade-level Flag and Chapel.
- Parents, family members, and special guests will be invited for events on campus.
- Current sanitation/disinfection protocols will continue. Fogging will be done periodically when needed.
